Background on the pic:
Pic done for *GuidingChaos Shad-Mina Valentine’s contest. It won the 1st place!
It was my first time taking part on a DA contest so I wanted to do it well.
I started thinking about what could I draw and after some sketches I came up to 2-3 short histories that I’d like to draw and I condensed them all in one only pic.
It’s more a Shadow pic than anything else…
What you are watching in the image the end of Knothole’s St. Valentine’s Day Special Concert, with the extremely famous local star Mina Mongoose. It’s not the type of gigs that Mina is used to give –as you may have already guess-, is the type of Concert that you have to dress in formal clothing an all that. At the end of those concerts the singer always receives a bouquet, usually from the conductor, but in this occasion is Sonic the one that gives it to her. As there’s no conductor here, I thought about Ash (as her manager) or Sally (as the princess of the place) for the job, but as this takes place in a pre-Ash random story-line when Mina still has a big crush on Sonic and the blue hedgehog is the local hero and main character I choose Sonic. As you can see, the concert has been a great success.
I have a lot to say about this drawing, about what it’s happening and all that, but first of all I would like to read what do you think that it’s happening (a big clue: Shadow is NOT jealous of Sonic).

This is done with black marker, pen and color pencils (I always do my best on pencils).
I tried it to look a bit like an Archie comic’s page.

I failed on Shadows background, it has to be dark but as Shadow is so dark itself I had a big trouble with the colors. Also I think that I’d have look a lot better if I had inked the stage, Sonic and Mina with thinner lines.

I think that it's still far away from a proffesional grade, but I won't deny that I like my results with pencils when I take my time on it.
The thing of the sign was a matter of framing, I thought about it as a photgraph and the sign was half out with the auditorium that I design (I thing that the map is drew on green in the scrap somewhere...).
